PEPPERDINE Director, Marketing & Communications (2018 to Present) Drive branding and overall marketing strategy, extending reach and strengthening marketplace position for Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. Enrollment is at the highest level in 13 years, SOV is up 33%, follower growth (+10%) and engagement (+4%) have also increased through integrated marketing campaigns.
PERRY CONSULTING (2013 – 2015) I have consulted for small to mid-size businesses specializing in marketing, branding, go to market strategies, engagement & retention to product launches. Some of my clients include: Doherty Enterprise (developing brand audit, vision and messaging for two new restaurants), Decision Point (segmented plus size women’s apparel market, summarizing and analyzing research results), and The Heart Touch Project (redesigned website driving new engagement and partnership opportunities).
Vice President, Business Development (2013) I worked for Jakks Pacific on a joint venture with NantWorks (healthcare and technology company founded by entrepreneur Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong) on a groundbreaking image recognition platform, ID, that recognized images, 3D objects, voice, speech data, live video including augmented reality. I drove user acquisitions and partnership development for Fortune 500 companies working with C-level/senior executives to leverage the technology. During my tenure, I partnered with Bank of America, AT&T, MLB, QVC, City National Bank and others providing integrated marketing strategies and new digital opportunities that provided scalable solutions, meeting their business objectives.
Director, Global Brand Management (2007 – 2012) I drove $500M in global sales for the entertainment division at THQ, consisting of partnerships with entertainment companies (Nickelodeon, Disney-Pixar, DreamWorks, Fox, Sony) to develop, market and launch innovative gaming products across multiple platforms. I quantified the risk/rewards for 50+ new product opportunities by making data-backed recommendations to the executive team. I led the product development process from concept to shelf managing a multi-functional team, delivering innovative products on time, on strategy and on cost. The successful results included the launch of numerous kid video games (Wall-e, Cars, Up, SpongeBob), in a difficult retail environment. I led the strategy of developing direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns resulting in achieving 2-4M+ units sold per game despite distribution rejections from ‘big box’ retailers, and securing top 10 selling animated games the year of introduction.
Senior Global Brand Manager (2005 – 2007) I led the strategic planning and tactical execution of worldwide marketing efforts and franchise development for Spider-Man, a multi-million dollar franchise. I created and communicated the global franchise vision to internal and external parties that influenced success effectively driving revenue growth while optimizing ROI.
Senior Sales Operations Manager (2001 – 2005) I marketed 12+ brand portfolios (Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Dasani, Evian, Dannon, Powerade KMX and more) developing and executing strategic marketing plans including new product and packaging launches to promotional programs that addressed market needs resulting in driving growth up 30% over business goals.
Brand Manager (1997 – 2001) I served in a variety of positions from driving new businesses, creating long term strategic growth platforms on the new products team to driving established brands for marketplace success. I secured two new channels of businesses with the Orville Redenbacher line (within Movie Theatre’s and airport retail locations) increasing profits for ConAgra Foods. On the new products team, I launched a new category in the grocery channel with Homestyle Bakes from Banquet which became the best-selling new grocery product introduction of 2001 and 2002 for the industry (per IRI) and recognized as the most valuable team of the year. While managing Orville Redenbacher, a 30 year brand, I implemented a significant brand revitalization initiative transforming 4+ years decline that doubled revenue and market share growth and returned the brand to the #1 share position.
